Hampta Pass

Himachal Pradesh · Kullu–Lahaul crossing

1. Day 1

   Jobra → Chika

   A short 3 km walk-in from the roadhead. First night camped by the Rani nallah.

2. Day 2

   Chika → Balu Ka Ghera

   A 7 km climb via Jwara into high meadows, camping right under the pass with the first big peak views.

3. Day 3

   Balu Ka Ghera → Hampta Pass (4,287m) → Shea Goru

   The crossing day: steep to the pass, then a dramatic ~9 km drop into the stark Lahaul valley.

4. Day 4

   Shea Goru → Chatru

   Descend roughly 10 km to the road. Groups doing the Chandratal extension continue by vehicle to the lake for the night.

5. Day 5

   Chatru / Chandratal → Manali

   Return drive over Rohtang / the Atal Tunnel back to Manali.
